Prize Money remains unchanged for Global Champions Tour

The Global Champions Tour (GCT) will commence the 2009 season this week with the GCT of Italy hosted by the Arezzo Equestrian Centre. The GCT Grand Prix of Italy is donated with prize money of Euro285,000 with the world's best riders competing on the famous Arezzo grass arena. Last year the riders agreed to support the event organisor and give 5% of their prize money won from the grand prix (equal to Euro 15,000.00) giving the riders net prize money of Euro 285,000.00 (Euro300,000.00 less 5% or Euro15,000.00). Due to pressure from other event organisers, the FEI could no longer accept the 5% deduction in competition schedules and so the prize money for the riders remains exactly the same as last year. The Global Champions Tour has not reduced the prize money. The Global Champions Tour event will take place from Thursday 2nd April with total prize money donated to the event of Euro380,000.00. The GCT of Italy Grand Prix will be broadcast relayed live on Saturday 4 April on Eurosport at 20:30." | ||
