Livewire competed at the Advanced level of Eventing for four years. In this time he placed seventh at the Jersey Fresh CCI***, tenth at the Fair Hill CCI***, was the highest placed Canadian at the Wit's End World Cup Qualifier and was a member of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Team. These are only a few of the great things that Livewire accomplished in his career as an Advanced Event horse. On February 24, 2009 the decision was made to retire Olympic Three Day Event horse, Livewire, from upper level eventing. After Livewire sustained a minor injury, his owner and rider, Samantha Taylor, decided that the time had come to reassess the direction that she thought would be in the best interest of Livewire. On the subject of future plans Samantha had this to say. "Eventing is still where my heart is and I look forward to competing at the highest level of the sport again. I have goals to represent and win medals for Canada on Olympic and World Championship Eventing Teams. I am currently working to find horses to take Livewire's place as my International Eventing partners. I have begun working to put together syndicates and secure sponsorship to help me put together the finances that I need to reach the top again. The financial support will allow me to buy, train and care for the horses that will be my next CCI**** and Olympic partners. I know that I have the ability, talent and drive to reach the top again and I will get there soon." | ||
